Stevin is registered with the State of Connecticut under the Connecticut Partnership for Long-Term Care Planning program, an area in which he has considerable experience, and he has helped many widowed clients settle late spouses’ estates and navigate the complexities of the estate planning process.

Stevin began his financial services career in 1997 with American Express Financial Advisors, now known as Ameriprise Financial, before moving to advisory roles with MassMutual Financial Group and People's Securities, Inc., a subsidiary of People's United Bank. In 2009, he returned to the independent advisory platform, practicing private wealth management with Northstar Wealth Partners until early 2016, when he launched Sound Choice Financial, LLC.
Stevin holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Connecticut. Before college, he served six years on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, performing law enforcement, search and rescue, and drug interdiction responsibilities at sea. He later trained in the medical field in Petaluma, California, and the Academy of Health Sciences in San Antonio, Texas, with a focus on pharmacy, before serving in the pharmacy department at the Coast Guard Academy Clinic in New London, Connecticut. After 9/11, Stevin returned to serve six additional years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in Boston.
Before entering financial services, Stevin worked as an electrician in Alaska, including time in Prudhoe Bay alongside his father during the assembly of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in the mid-1980s.
Outside of work, Stevin continues to guide his three young adult kids and enjoys fitness, nature, philosophy, travel, the arts, American political history, and time with his Boxer.
